Steven Sole JZX in the wet

I like shooting in the rain,
Mainly because every one else disappears, which is good for people like me
Meaning that I get a different variety of pictures to choose from.

Reflections are a big one for me,
reflections of light from the track onto the car,
reflections of the car into shallow pools of water laying on the track..

When I first was out in the rain taking photos was as Hampton Downs shooting Formula 5000′s
They were amazing because you could capture… see..
The rooster tail they create from their big wings and big tyres,
seeing the moisture flow over the the wings and tyres,
giving you some idea of the aerodynamics these machines have.

Since then, I was not afraid of getting my Canon wet
Because I know that after an absolute drenching, it works perfect every time.

This is Steven Soles Chaser.

Don’t run away from the rain,

Wow, It’s been a while

Yeah, so.
Sorry about the lack of updates… The past month.

Work has been mad busy, my weekends have been full of race meetings and race cars..
None of which I’ve been shooting at. But, crewing on.

I’ve finished work, and started Uni again.

My laptop had finally packed a sad, I haven’t had the time to get it fixed, so editing photos has been a no go.
I’ve been using my friends laptops and my phone..

So..
This week, I plan to get everything up and running again and starting where I left off.
Which is going to be a re cap of my 2011 photography year first off.

I’m in planning of getting one book printed..

And in discussion with quite a few other people on getting a special run of… specialty books done..
That i’ve been planning for quite a few months now… But that won’t be going into production until next year some time.

This year, I’m going to be working on, I guess finding my own personal style of shooting, although I’m pretty sure that I’ve found it, and with that shooting goes with editing.
I try and go for a simplistic style of editing, I like to keep it real..
As my background IS film and darkroom, so you make the most of what you take.

Thanks for visiting my site over the last 2-3 months, even though nothing has really happened.
Things will be back to normal!

Thanks.

John Bryant | 1968 Lola T140 / 8

John had flown his Lola T140 over from Adelaide two weeks ago to race in the
two weekends that the BMW Festival of Motor Racing was held, and also this coming weekend at Ruapuna in Christchurch.

In 2007 or 2008 John had a horrific accident at Phillip Island when a front left suspension arm had failed
and sent him off the track, backwards into a tire barrier at 150mph.

This left him unconscious for six hours and hospitalized for weeks with a fractured skull and broken bones.

The rebuild of this car has taken four years and finished last year, this has been his first event in the T140 since.

Here you can see him looking up into the sky before he rolls out onto the grid for the first race of Sunday.
